He find himself in Paris after proposing to his girlfriend who is away in europe. during his stay he gets in a relationship with a bartender. That's pretty much it as far as I remember but it's really about the characters.

waaaah, you know it's actually been a while since I finished this book but it spoke quite a lot to me about the self suppression and rejection. you can't help but hate a little but also understand and see how it came to be. IDK if i'm making any sense, I can't think of the words to properly elaborate on why this book is IMO a masterpiece, disregarding the technicality of the writing which is also really amazing.
